Rep. Yoder Responds to President's NDAA Veto

This afternoon, President Barack Obama vetoed the 2015 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), marking only the fifth time in 53 years an NDAA has received a presidential veto. In a June statement, the White House indicated the President would veto the bill because he "will not fix defense without fixing non-defense spending." Representative Kevin Yoder (R-KS) issued the following statement in response to President Obama's veto:

"I'm deeply disappointed the President has chosen today to deny the critical support our troops need to ensure America remains secure. For more than 50 years, both parties have set aside political differences to consistently provide those resources. Instead, for the first time in our history, the President has vetoed a must-pass defense bill for issues completely unrelated to its contents.

"Protecting our national security, equipping our military, and supporting our troops and their families are no place for politics. The President should sign this bill."
