Press Release

Date: Sept. 21, 2015
Location: Washington, DC
Issues: Energy

Congressman Chris Gibson (NY-19) will tour a hydrogen production facility and meet with members of the media in Tonawanda Tuesday, September 22 to discuss how Upstate New York manufacturers are developing clean energy technologies for use in hydrogen fuel cell power generation, motor vehicles, and forklifts.

He will join representatives of Albany area fuel cell maker Plug Power for a visit to Praxair's hydrogen production plant and the Praxair Technology Center.

Congressman Gibson is an original cosponsor of the Fuel Cell Tax Extenders Act of 2015, bipartisan legislation introduced last week by Congressman John Larson (CT-1) to extend tax incentives for fuel cell electric vehicles and related equipment and provide parity with other clean energy technologies.

"Fuel cells are a critical component of our efforts to reduce our dependency on fossil fuels and lower energy costs," said Congressman Gibson. "I am delighted to help remove barriers to growing this industry and creating more jobs in the clean energy field through this bipartisan bill. Manufacturers in Upstate New York are leading the way to making these important technologies accessible to businesses and consumers across the country. I am proud of their presence in our state, and I look forward to watching these innovators at work."
