Fleming: An Unlawful President and a Bad Deal

Statement

Date: Sept. 10, 2015
Location: Washington, DC
Issues: Foreign Affairs

Congressman John Fleming, M.D. released the following statement after voting in favor of H. Res. 411, stating that the President has not complied with the requirements in the Iran Nuclear Agreement Review Act:

"Yet again, the President has been delinquent in fulfilling his lawful duties. Despite the unequivocal language in the Iran Nuclear Agreement Review Act, the Administration has failed to provide Congress with the content of two side deals between Iran and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). These separate, secret arrangements reportedly address Iran's past nuclear weaponization ambitions, a critical aspect of the JCPOA."

"Today's vote calls the President out on the carpet. During the intervening two months since agreeing to the JCPOA, Iran hasn't changed its tune of regional aggression, terrorist activity, and blatant disregard for UN restrictions. Iran continues to spew venom at Israel and assail the United States. Yet, the President is asking Congress to support a bad deal with a bad actor without furnishing crucial information."
