Rep. Trott: "Pope Francis Is An Inspirational World Leader"

Statement

U.S. Representative Dave Trott (MI-11) today made the following statement after Pope Francis became the first pontiff to address a joint meeting of the U.S. Congress:

"Today's address from Pope Francis showed the American people his powerful message of humility and compassion for people of all backgrounds and faiths. It was humbling to be part of such a moving and historic moment for our nation. In a time when so many people around the world continue to face suffering, war, and poverty, Pope Francis's teachings of faith and generosity offers confidence for better days to come. I know that throughout his ongoing visit to the United States, the Holy Father will continue receiving a warm welcome from the American people."
