This Wednesday and Thursday, the University of Hawaii and the Hawaii Business Roundtable hosted an innovation summit featuring Javier Saade, the Associate Administrator of the Small Business Administration's Office of Investment and Innovation at the University of Hawaii at Manoa. The summit focused on establishing an environment that fosters the spirit of entrepreneurship and the important role of preserving America as a leader in innovation.

"I believe small businesses are the drivers of our economy and when small business succeeds, America succeeds. This summit brings together a cross-section of the business, banking, military, and startup communities to discuss how to increase economic opportunities for Hawaii," Takai said.

Takai serves as the Ranking Member of the Small Business Subcommittee on Contracting and the Workforce, where he is committed to fighting for expanding economic opportunities for all of Hawaii's citizens.

"There is no better venue than the institutions that educate tomorrow's leaders to discuss the importance of innovation across all sectors of our economy. I look forward to working closely with the Small Business Administration, the University of Hawaii, and the Hawaii Business Roundtable to continue to make our state is competitive in an evolving world marketplace," Takai concluded.
