Rep. Tom Graves (R-GA-14) today voted in favor of the conference report for National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2016, bipartisan legislation correcting differences between the House and Senate authorization bills. The National Defense Authorization Act is annual legislation that authorizes funding for the Department of Defense.

"After nearly seven years of the Obama administration's weak commitment to our military readiness and failed foreign policy, the Islamic State is on the offensive and Vladimir Putin is running wild," said Rep. Graves. "Now is the time to reclaim a strong national defense as a top priority."

"To effectively protect our nation, we must have the strongest, most advanced military in the world," Rep. Graves continued. "This legislation authorizes the resources necessary to protect our nation today and prepare for the threats of tomorrow."

"Additionally, this critical legislation strengthens Georgia's military installations, along with the communities they support. With more than 100,000 active-duty soldiers, reservists and guardsmen in Georgia -- the fourth largest military population in the nation -- I am proud to support our men and women in uniform by voting for this legislation," Rep. Graves concluded.

The legislation passed the House by a bipartisan vote of 270 to 156.
