U.S. Representative Randy Hultgren (IL-14) today issued the following statement on Speaker Boehner announcing his resignation from Congress at the end of October:

"Speaker Boehner is a class act who did his best to unify the House Republican conference since we achieved the majority when I entered Congress in 2011. He led House Republicans to push forward an agenda of cutting government spending for the first time in decades. The great thing about John Boehner is he never forgot where he came from, using his Midwestern upbringing to always stand up for the small business owner or farmer. I wish him the very best as he opens a new chapter in his life. Our next leader must be able to bring House Republicans together and stand up for conservative principles. I am confident we will select one with strong leadership qualities who can lead as we continue our work on behalf of the American people."
