No Colorado Investigation into Planned Parenthood?

Statement

Date: Aug. 26, 2015
Location: Colorado Springs, CO
Issues: Abortion

Following the announcement the Colorado state government will not be investigating Planned Parenthood, Congressman Doug Lamborn has issued the following statement:

"It is shocking that despite Colorado being the epicenter of a national outcry over the trafficking of aborted baby body parts for profit, our state officials, who have been entrusted with the responsibility to ensure compliance with state law, have chosen to relinquish their duty. The release of horrific undercover videos and documents regarding the actions of Planned Parenthood of the Rocky Mountains and possibly two state universities raises significant state legal and medical ethics questions that can only be addressed by an investigation conducted by the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment. It is simply outrageous for the Colorado Department of Public Health to claim that these state issues can be addressed by ongoing Congressional investigations that are focused solely on violations of federal law. More than a dozen states have investigated Planned Parenthood affiliates to insure compliance with their state laws. And with Colorado being one of only a few states were Planned Parenthood acknowledges having a fetal tissue donation program, it is incumbent upon Dr. Larry Wolk to ensure that abortion providers in Colorado are not profiting from the transfer of fetal tissue, that abortion providers are not endangering their patients by changing their procedures in order to maximize the harvesting of fetal tissue, and that patients are providing informed consent when fetal tissue is donated."
