Today, Congressman Ted Poe, Chairman of the House Subcommittee on Terrorism, issued the following statement on the House of Representatives votes on the Iran nuclear deal.
"This week, the House took decisive steps to demonstrate the will of Congress and the people we represent regarding the Iran Deal. First, the House passed a resolution stating that the Administration had not presented the full Iran deal (with all of the side deals) to Congress. The House then took a straight up or down vote on the deal itself. This bill failed, demonstrating that the deal does not have the support of the majority of members on both sides of the aisle. Lastly, the House voted to suspend the President's authority to unilaterally waive sanctions, which Congress and the Administration imposed on Iran. The People's House has spoken. I urge the President and the Senate to listen. Putting the wishes of the Ayatollah before the will of the House and the American people would be a historically reckless decision."
