Brown Announces $100,000 in New Federal Funding for Tuscarawas County to Improve Emergency Services

U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH) today announced $100,000 in federal funding for the Tuscarawas County Board of Commissioners to help improve 911 operations.

"911 services are critical for ensuring quick emergency response," Brown said. "This funding will improve the 911 system in Tuscarawas County to bring it up to speed with new technologies."

The $100,000 from ARC will give Tuscarawas County the ability to fund an IP-based 911 system. The current system is an old analog-based system that has become obsolete and the county needs to upgrade to state-of-the-art technology. The new system will be IP-based and will allow for voice and data communications between callers and the Sheriff's 911 dispatch center. The new system will also allow for future connection to the fiber-based Ohio Statewide Emergency Services Internet Protocol Network which will link together all of Ohio's Public Service Answering Points and state and county governmental agencies.
