Issue Position

Those who bravely served our country in the armed forces deserve all the benefits to which they are entitled. It is important to honor those who served our country and especially those who were disabled by their service. As the daughter, spouse, and sister of veterans, Rep. Maloney honors the millions of veterans who live across the country and in New York for their service and sacrifice.

Throughout her time in Congress, Rep. Maloney has fought to ensure that our returning heroes receive the care and services they deserve. After the devastation of Hurricane Sandy, she advocated for federal relief to re-open the Manhattan VA Hospital and $207 million to make improvements to improve its resiliency going forward.

Along with Sen. Schumer, she has introduced legislation to allow veterans in New York to use the VA Home Loan program to purchase co-ops

In the wake of management scandals at the VA, she supported comprehensive reform legislation to address the Administration's shortcomings and improve accountability. Congress has an essential role to ensure that reforms are effective.
