House Majority Whip Steve Scalise (R-La.) issued the following statement today regarding the toxic spill caused by President Obama's Environmental Protection Agency (EPA):

"The EPA is supposed to help prevent environmental catastrophes, not cause them--but sadly, President Obama's EPA has been too busy threatening American jobs with radical regulations instead of focusing on what should be their core mission. Now they have caused a massive spill of toxic material, which threatens the health and livelihoods of people in several states. The EPA needs to hold themselves to the same standards that they would hold private industry to for this kind of unacceptable disaster. As Majority Whip and a member of the Energy and Commerce Committee, I know the House will aggressively perform its oversight function to ensure that the Obama Administration does everything possible to protect the American people and repair the damage they've done in the affected states and tribal areas, and also hold all officials accountable who are responsible for this disaster."
