U.S. Senator David Vitter (R-La.) today introduced legislation that would add Vernon and Sabine Parishes to the Delta Regional Authority. Vitter's legislation would make Vernon and Sabine Parishes eligible for federal economic development grants.

"Folks in Vernon and Sabine parishes play an important role in supporting our state economy. Adding them to the Delta Regional Authority will make sure they have every opportunity to create jobs, grow their businesses, and support their families," Vitter said.

The Delta Regional Authority is an economic partnership to support economically distressed counties and parishes in the Mississippi River Delta Region. Fifty-six parishes in Louisiana are currently included in the Delta Regional Authority.
