Today, Congressman Ryan Costello (PA-06) joined members of the Pennsylvania congressional delegation for a briefing and tour of SEPTA's Positive Train Control (PTC) test facility in Malvern, Pa. At the briefing, SEPTA Deputy GM Jeff Knueppel gave Members of Congress a demonstration of PTC and how the system can slow or even stop a train if it goes over a speed limit. Following the visit, Congressman Costello made the following comments:

"Today's visit provided direct insight into the role of Positive Train Control in ensuring our railroads are as safe as possible," said Congressman Ryan Costello. "I commend SEPTA on their efforts to install PTC on their rail systems and I am optimistic that the Federal Railroad Administration and rail lines across the nation will be able to meet the Congressionally-mandated December 31st deadline for PTC installation. Each day, thousands of my constituents rely on SEPTA's Regional Rail networks to travel safely to work, school, and events throughout our community. As Southeastern Pennsylvania is home to one of the world's most complicated passenger and freight corridors, we must do all that we can to ensure that this system is modern, safe, and operational."
