Congressman Chaka Fattah (PA-02), a Senior Member of the House Appropriations Committee, announced today that three organizations in his Philadelphia-area district have received new grant awards from the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH). In total, $822,136 was awarded to support new exhibitions and the conservation and preservation of current museum holdings.

The competitive grants were awarded to the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts ($250,000), the Philadelphia Museum of Art ($400,000), and La Salle University ($172,136). Around the country, NEH announced $36.6 million in grants for 212 humanities projects in 42 states and the District of Columbia.

"I am proud to announce these three organizations as recipients of new grant funding from the National Endowment for the Humanities," Congressman Fattah said. "Philadelphia is home to some of the finest cultural institutions in our country, and these three exemplify a commitment to deepening our community's understanding of the arts, history, and humanities projects that enrich our city."

"The grant projects announced today represent the very best of humanities scholarship and programming," said NEH Chairman William Adams in a press release. "NEH is proud to support programs that illuminate the great ideas and events of our past, broaden access to our nation's many cultural resources, and open up for us new ways of understanding the world in which we live."

The National Endowment for the Humanities supports research and education in history, literature, philosophy, and other areas of the humanities by awarding competitive grants to related programs and institutions across the United States.
