Location: New Haven, CT

Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro (D-CT) released the following statement today on the Department of Veterans Affairs' (VA) National Center for Posttraumatic Stress Disorder announcement that the West Haven VA will serve as a site for its first brain tissue biorepository. This initiative will support research on the causes, progression, and treatment of PTSD affecting Veterans.

"I am proud that the West Haven VA is one of five sites chosen nationwide to participate in the VA's first brain bank dedicated to Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). This initiative will build on our knowledge and scientific capacity to support much needed research of PTSD affecting our veterans. As a nation, we have a responsibility to invest in the health and wellbeing of our veterans and make sure that they are able to receive the highest quality care. I look forward to working with VA to support this critical research."

DeLauro has made multiple trips to the West Haven VA and is a longtime proponent of increasing investments in mental health research.
