Robert Pritchard has refused to provide voters with positions on key issues covered by the 2016 Political Courage Test, despite repeated requests. Historically, candidates have failed to complete our test due to the advice they receive from their parties and advisors and out of fear of negative attack ads.

The employer payment must be made. The ramp up payments for unfunded liability should be leveled. Retirement benefit changes must be fair and constitutional. Salary for pension determination should be averaged over more years to avoid end of career salary jumps. The goal is a fair, sustainable state pension system.

Federal laws should be enforced. If the law is not consistent with citizen wishes, then it should be changed. Our immigration policy should be open and those who want to live here should become citizens and assume the responsibilities of citizens. Our current policy only fosters second class residency and destroys the dreams which have made our country great.

Illinois already has laws affecting illegal immigrants, vouchers, teacher tenure and common core standards. More time is needed to see how effective these reforms will be. Our state needs to be more aggressive at recruitinig our best students to be teachers, mentoring them, supporting and rewarding them, and retaining them.

My goals are to help the state improve the climate for citizen and business success, adopt sound fiscal policies and represent the interests of my constituents. I will continue to support a balanced budget and setting spending priorities that offer a safety net for the most vulnerable and stimulate economic growth. I will work for reforms in our state revenue system that will provide property tax relief and fairness. I will continue to work for improvements in the quality of our PK-20 educational system, preparing every student to be college and career ready, and able to achieve their dreams.
