Minnesota State Legislative Election 2018 Political Courage Test

Pro-choice a) Do you generally support pro-choice or pro-life legislation?
Yes b) Should abortion be legal when the pregnancy resulted from incest or rape?
Yes c) Do you support the prohibition of public funds for organizations that perform abortions?
Most of the world supports public funding for abortions, the US is far more conservative than Canada, Russia, most of Europe, Australia, South American countries, and many other places. Only the very smallest minority of countries are more restrictive in using public funding than we are in this country. As a world leader we need to support women and families better, this is but one small and very important way to do so.

1) Budget Stabilization:Indicate which proposals you support (if any) for balancing Minnesota's budget.

a) Reducing state employee salaries AND/OR pensions?
b) Instituting mandatory furloughs AND/OR layoffs for state employees?
c) Reducing benefits for Medicaid recipients?
Yes d) An income tax increase on any tax bracket?
The growing and accumulating wealth among the few is not the way to build a sustainable society where everyone belongs and everyone contributes. Tax cuts are appropriate when the budget is balanced, but not when there is a deficit in spending to cover the important programs that make up the various components of infrastructure including our overall economy. The only way trickle down works is in terms of behavior, when you lead by example rather than creating confusion and conflict.

Health care costs have sky-rocketed such that until there are options that have a meaningful opportunity for everyone to participate, I do not support a requirement that people must purchase health care insurance.
