What is the Political Courage Test?

Presidential Election 2020 Political Courage Test

Pro-choice Do you generally support pro-choice or pro-life legislation?
I am personally pro-life, but support pro-choice legislation. I feel the issue is one of personal freedom, rather than law.
Yes In order to balance the budget, do you support an income tax increase on any tax bracket?
No Do you support expanding federal funding to support entitlement programs such as Social Security and Medicare?
In order to balance the budget, I support only a TEMPORARY income tax increase.
Yes Do you support the regulation of indirect campaign contributions from corporations and unions?
Some regulation of indirect campaign contributions from corporations and unions is necessary, i.e., reporting requirements, disallowance of non-foreign funds, ads need to state "Paid for By...," etc.
No Do you support increasing defense spending?
Defense spending was increased in recent years to rebuild the Military; now that the Military has been rebuilt, spending levels need to be reduced.
No Do you support federal spending as a means of promoting economic growth?
No Do you support lowering corporate taxes as a means of promoting economic growth?
I generally don't support federal spending as a means of promoting economic growth; however, under certain case by case circumstances, I would. I would leave corporate taxes at their current (lower) level. Reducing the national debt needs to be our #1 priority. If we're ever attacked on our mainland we don't want to find ourselves in a position where we can't afford to defend ourselves. We can't simply keep printing more money as every dollar we print devalues every other dollar. Nor can we keep borrowing from China, or other countries, as that puts us in a compromised position.
No Do you support requiring states to adopt federal education standards?
Yes Do you support government funding for the development of renewable energy (e.g. solar, wind, geo-thermal)?
Yes Do you support the federal regulation of greenhouse gas emissions?
Government funding for the development of renewable energy should allocated in such a way where the funds encourage private investment. I support LIMITED federal regulation of greenhouse gas emissions, and would encourage individual states to raise those standards should they see fit.
Yes Do you generally support gun-control legislation?
People who are mentally sound don't commit mass shootings, or intentionally drive over crowds of people; so, I would incentivize health insurance companies to offer a considerable discount to their subscribers who see a Psychologist in a given year.
Unknown Position Do you support repealing the 2010 Affordable Care Act ("Obamacare")?
No, don't repeal it, but rather fix it. The result can be the same.
Yes Do you support the construction of a wall along the Mexican border?
No Do you support requiring immigrants who are unlawfully present to return to their country of origin before they are eligible for citizenship?
I want to secure our borders in whatever way is most practical. In many places that may be a wall, and in other locations that may be some type of technology, physical presence, or something else. We must create a path to citizenship which is different (and more stringent) for those who entered illegally, than for those who entered through the proper channels. Anything less would not be fair.
No Should the United States use military force to prevent governments hostile to the U.S. from possessing a weapon of mass destruction (for example: nuclear, biological, chemical)?
Yes Do you support reducing military intervention in Middle East conflicts?
Yes Do you generally support removing barriers to international trade (for example: tariffs, quotas, etc.)?
1. The National Debt 2. Gridlock and Term Limits 3. Healthcare
