Pro-lifeCandidate AnswerDo you generally support pro-choice or pro-life legislation?
Other or expanded principles

Largely this is a woman's choice; I would not presume to impose my view on a woman giving birth or not giving birth. However, personally my position is in favor of preserving life.

YesCandidate AnswerIn order to balance the budget, do you support reducing defense spending?
YesCandidate AnswerIn order to balance the budget, do you support an income tax increase on any tax bracket?
Other or expanded principles

These are difficult issues. If defense spending can be reduced by way of the application of technology in the interest of protecting and keeping service women and men out of harm's way, yes. Income taxes are a matter of common sense in the common interest. These choices would have to be studied carefully and presented for public approval.

YesCandidate AnswerDo you support the regulation of indirect campaign contributions from corporations and unions?
Other or expanded principles

Campaign spending is beyond the comprehension of most Americans. It should be reported completely where the monies come from; indirect contributions are essentially a blind for voting Americans.

NoDo you support capital punishment for certain crimes?
YesDo you support alternatives to incarceration for certain non-violent offenders such as mandatory counseling or substance abuse treatment?
YesCandidate AnswerDo you support mandatory minimum sentences for non-violent drug offenders?
Other or expanded principles

These, too, are difficult questions. Having taught reading in a state prison, I came to realize the enormous obstacles that face ex-prisoners if they were to be released after having served prison time. Incarceration as a form of severity serves neither the public nor the ex-offender.

Other or expanded principles

Legislation in the interest of maintaining the right to have a gun should be tempered by controls to keep the guns in responsible hands.

YesCandidate AnswerDo you support repealing the 2010 Affordable Care Act ("Obamacare")?
Other or expanded principles

This is a marginal answer. I really do not know enough about Obamacare that would allow me to answer this question responsibly. I do know that I and others have experienced appreciable increases in medical costs.

A more intelligent response to the problem of illegal immigrants must be tempered by care for those children born to those parents as fully endowed American citizens.

Please explain in a total of 100 words or less, your top two or three priorities if elected. If they require additional funding for implementation, please explain how you would obtain this funding.

Public works should be a major category of financial attention. Care for U.S. children born to illegal immigrants should be treated outside of any arguments about how the illegal immigrants are to be treated or made legal. Certainly these children should not be made to pay a penalty in terms of care or in terms of their future benefits and contributions as a result of contentiousness among law makers.
