What is the Political Courage Test?

Florida Congressional Election 2012 Political Courage Test

Pro-choice Do you generally support pro-choice or pro-life legislation?
I feel that it is the rights of a woman to determine with their chosen physician as to what is in the best interest of her health and mental well being. I know that this is a tough choice and even I have had to struggle with this. Even with my struggles I know that the government can no dictate how a woman is to use her body in the case of procreation and recreation.
No Do you support United States' combat operations in Afghanistan?
Yes Do you support a timetable for withdrawal from Afghanistan?
I do not believe that we should still be in Afghanistan. While I do support the troops I feel that our mission is being too undermined there to be effective.

Indicate which proposals you support (if any) for balancing the federal budget. In order to balance the budget,

Yes do you support reducing defense spending?
Yes do you support an income tax increase on any tax bracket?
Yes do you support reducing Medicaid spending?
Yes do you support reducing Medicare spending?
Yes Is balancing the budget a legislative priority?
Our government has to find ways to be able to cut the waste and fraud that is in the system right now. Doing that we will see a natural reduction on how much is being spent on all of the "social" programs that are now being funded. This is also true for other areas in government where we have many agencies that are doing the same job. If we were to combine them we would again see a natural reduction of the cost of those agencies, even in military.
Yes Do you support the regulation of indirect campaign contributions from corporations and unions?
All donations should be accountable and corporations as a group are not people and should not be treated as such. The influence of money in political races has to stop and the only way that will happen is if there is meaningful campaign finance reforms.
Do you support capital punishment for certain crimes?
Capital punishment has always been and always will be a personal subject. Those that have been victims sometimes see no other way for justice to prevail while others who have not felt the pain of tragic and willful loss may never understand how the families of the victims feel. It is something that will always have to be viewed as a case by case thing.
Yes Do you support federal spending as a means of promoting economic growth?
Yes Do you support providing tax incentives to businesses for the purpose of job creation?
Yes Do you support spending on infrastructure projects for the purpose of job creation?
Yes Do you support the temporary extension of unemployment benefits?
No Do you support the 2010 temporary extension of tax relief?
While money has to be spent at times for the growth of jobs it will not work unless everyone agrees for it to work. You can't just throw money at something and hope that it works. There has to be a plan to make it work so that the government is not stuck with the bill in the end. There has to be a return on the governments investment for the economy to be able ton grow properly.
Unknown Position Do you support requiring states to implement education reforms in order to be eligible for competitive federal grants?
Until there are meaningful education reforms that do not rely on just a test paper then I see no reason to require states to meet the substandard education reforms that are now expected. Once meaningful reforms in the education system are implemented then I would support the requirement that states implement them to receive funding.
No Do you support reducing restrictions on offshore energy production?
Yes Do you believe that human activity is contributing to climate change?
Yes Do you support the federal regulation of greenhouse gas emissions?
Yes Do you support restrictions on the purchase and possession of guns?
I believe that citizens have the right to be able to protect themselves with firearms as is protected by the Constitution. I do not believe though that the same right extends to the possession of military grade weaponry.
No Do you support repealing the 2010 Affordable Care Act?
No Should individuals be required to purchase health insurance, as mandated in the 2010 Affordable Care Act?
No Do you support requiring illegal immigrants to return to their country of origin before they are eligible for citizenship?
Yes Do you support allowing illegal immigrants, who were brought to the United States as minors, to pursue citizenship without returning to their country of origin?
Yes Do you support the enforcement of federal immigration law by state and local police?
Yes Do you support same-sex marriage?
Yes Do you support targeting suspected terrorists outside of official theaters of conflict?
No Should the U.S use military force in order to prevent Iran from possessing a nuclear weapon?
No Do you support allowing individuals to divert a portion of their Social Security taxes into personal retirement accounts?

Improvement in education to included art, music and more science as well as history. This would be a shifting of resources by eliminating the overhead of 3rd party testing services. Support a balanced budget amendment to make sure that our government is able to reduce its debt and pay for itself far into the future without the wholesale gutting of social programs and military.
