Reason for Seeking Public Office:
The reason why I ran for office was simple: I love my hometown. I love living in East Providence and I am determined to protect what makes this place so special to me.
I often recall my treasured days at Thompson Kindergarten and Myron J. Francis Elementary school. I think about Saturday morning AYSO soccer games and volunteering with the "VIP" soccer program for children with disabilities. I remember the Halloween parade and the Christmas lights and the Fourth of July fireworks. I remember it all, and I enjoy the memories of life here. These activities fostered my sense of belonging and duty--a sense that stuck with me as I made my way through high school and college, where I partook in student government, athletics and volunteer opportunities.
The town I love has seen better times and I feel that it is my duty to help reach its full potential. I ran for State Representative because I believe our district requires a fresh and responsible voice--a voice that will always strive to do right by our city in these tough times.
There are all kinds of citizens and taxpayers that make up our city. There are the children of all ages, their mothers and fathers, and their grandmothers and grandfathers. There are young workers just starting out, seasoned entrepreneurs and retirees, married residents, single residents, and the list goes on. East Providence citizens want to work and pay their bills, educate their children, care for elderly family members and be able to pay for their homes. That's not too much to ask for.
I am working as hard as I can at the state house to help all of our residents achieve the lives they desire. I want East Providence and Rhode Island to offer the same benefits now that I enjoyed while growing up. I care for the generation that gave me the memories of East Providence that I hold so dear. Now, I am dedicated to creating an environment that will provide those same memories for younger generations.
That is why I ran and I have many goals I am looking to accomplish. I may not have all the answers, but you can rest assured that I am giving my all to find them.
It is an honor to represent my hometown in elected office--and I accept the responsibilities and challenges of such a privilege!
