Current Car:

My current vehicle is a 1999 Ford Ranger. It's a GREAT vehicle, that has been dependable for 13 years, made by an American car company.

Date of Wedding Anniversary:

7/24/2012 - 30 years

Father's Name:

Orville

Favorite Movie:

Band of Brothers-I know, it's a series. But my Dad was one of the original paratroopers in the 82nd Airborne Division. He was truly a minority among them, surviving 4 combat jumps. He's my hero!

Favorite President and Why:

George Washington is my favorite president because he was a devout man (certainly not flawless), who was keenly aware of the historical role he was playing in our nation's birth. His wisdom carried us through those very first tumultuous years under our Constitution. It was his great, but magnanimous, spirit that nourished the tender shoot that was to become the mighty oak of history, the United States of America.

Favorite Quote:

"The God who gave us life, gave us liberty at the same time. The hand of force may destroy, but he cannot disjoin them." ~Thomas Jefferson, 1774
-that, or-
"You will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy. We must be cautious." ~Obi Wan Kenobi to Luke Skywalker, speaking of Mos Isley Spaceport

Hobbies or Special Talents:

Photography-love those DSLR's! Canons, of course-made in the U.S.A.

Personal Hero and Why:

My personal hero is, was, always has been, always will be my Dad. His service as a paratrooper made him my hero. He taught me to appreciate and love life, live it with gusto, be generous with what you've been blessed with, perhaps most importantly, to stand up for what you believe in.

Pets (include names):

Shepherd/Huskie mix named Morgan

Priority Issues:

Grow Michigan's economy
Protect Life and Marriage
Reform education
Return Federal/State relationship to its proper role

Publications:

The Limbaugh Letter-I'm sure that'll lose me some votes. :-) Concealed Carry magazine-that one, too. :-) America's First Freedom-Hmmm...I see a trend here. :-) American Educator. American Family Association's Journal.

Reason for Seeking Public Office:

As an educator, I'm weary of the increasing failings of public education. As a professional educator, I'm ashamed to watch my profession tolerate what is happening to our young people. As a Union Conservative, it takes someone like me to properly address education. The Progressive philosophy has done great damage to public education, but I don't have confidence in Republicans to repair and reform the education of our young people without destroying the livelihoods and morale of dedicated, professional educators. When I complain about what I see happening in our schools, I am compelled to do something about it (see what my Dad taught me). Hence, I am seeking public office.

Spouse's Occupation:

Homebound teacher-she works with those too sick to attend school.
