Reason for Seeking Public Office:
Alabama ranks among the worst in the US for every meaningful indicator of child wellbeing. Our 1901 Constitution was crafted to ensure white supremacy. It denies home rule for counties and funding public transit. Alabama is one of 2 states that taxes food fully (6 states tax food partially). The tax code, which is embedded in the Constitution, is one of the most regressive tax codes in the nation. Partisan politics, power, and corruption have stifled governance. Alabama has enormous potential, but will not realize that potential until more people who will work for the good of all and the public interest run for elected office. I am one who has decided to do just that!
