Hobbies or Special Talents:

I am a home-builder and enjoy leading Habitat for Humanity builds with my church. I also enjoy spending time with my family and grandchildren, participating in sports, working with my tractor or helping folks fix repair their automobiles, and walking the trails of the Blue Ridge Parkway. Over the past few years I have farmed a small crop of Christmas Trees.

Reason for Seeking Public Office:

I am running for United States Congress because the people of the fifth district need a true and honest representative who will place their needs above political or partisan gain. Unfortunately, my opponent has turned her back on the people of our district as evidenced by her callous voting record. In Congress, I will vote to support people-based initiatives that have a real impact on the working families in our district. My only obligation in Congress will be to represent the needs and best interests of the people who elect me to serve.
Virginia Foxx's votes against healthcare for children, against public education, and against providing resources for economic growth in our area compelled me to join the race. As a school teacher and football coach for over 40 years, I simply could not sit on the sidelines while my students went off into a needless war, a broken economy, and a university system that they cannot afford. My opponent no longer represents the people of North Carolina and has been a part of the problem in a time when we need real solutions. We must begin putting people above partisan politics.
