Title: Election Requirements for Lieutenant Governor

Vote to pass a bill that establishes campaign contribution and election guidelines for joint candidates for Governor and Lieutenant Governor.

Highlights:

-Declares that joint campaigns for the offices of Governor and Lieutenant Governor shall be eligible for public financing (Sec. 15). -Forbids corporations, non-profit organizations, get-out-the-vote and other organizations from making statements to their members or stockholders or the families of these individuals on behalf on any candidate or joint candidates (Sec. 18). -Caps the amount of public funding that may be received by joint candidates for Lieutenant Governor and Governor at $3.3 million (Sec. 21). -Requires candidates for Lieutenant Governor to participate in a gubernatorial debate (Sec. 26). -Holds joint candidates for Governor and Lieutenant Governor equally liable for the return of one-half of all campaign contributions if either candidate fails to participate in required gubernatorial debates (Sec. 27). -Requires candidates for Lieutenant Governor to fill out a financial disclosure form, on or before the 30th day after their candidacy is announced, and file it with the Election Law Enforcement Commission (Sec. 29).
