Vote to pass a bill that authorizes a referendum on whether the State should issue $400 million in bonds for developing lands for conservation and recreation purposes, preserving farmland, buying flood-prone or storm-damaged properties, and funding historic preservation projects.

Highlights:

-Authorizes $218 million for development and purchase of lands for recreation and conservation purposes (Sec. 5). -Authorizes $146 million in bonds for the preservation of farmland (Sec. 6). -Authorizes $24 million in bonds for the purchase of storm-vulnerable or damaged lands for recreation and conservation purposes, which may not be acquired through the State's power of eminent domain but instead must be acquired from willing sellers (Sec. 7). -Authorizes $12 million in bonds for the preservation of historic properties (Sec. 8). -Provides for a referendum on this bill to be held at the next general election occurring at least 70 days after its passage, and appropriates $5,000 to the Department of State in order to inform the public of this referendum (Secs. 29, 30).
