Vote to adopt an amendment that divides the Omaha Public Schools System into three districts by requiring that by July 1, 2007, all learning community coordinating councils, as established by the bill, must develop plans to divide school districts within their community into new districts according to attendance areas of the existing high school buildings and sharing a community of interest. The divisions must gain state approval by December 31, 2007, and if the learning community council fails to submit a plan, the state committee shall divide the school districts.
