Vote to concur with senate amendments and pass a bill that amends the Louisiana Constitution to clarify language that forbids the government from infringing on the right of every person to freely express sincerely held religious beliefs.

Highlights:
-Amends the Louisiana Constitution to affirm that no state employee or establishment shall burden the free exercise of religion unless the state can prove that it has a compelling governmental interest in doing so (Sec. 1). -Declares that free exercise of religion includes the right to freely express sincerely held religious belief and to engage or refrain from activities based on sincerely held religious belief (Sec. 1). -Clarifies that a burden to religion shall include but not be limited to: withholding benefits, assessing penalties, or excluding individuals from professions, programs, or facilities because of religious preferences (Sec. 1). -Resolves to submit proposed amendment to state voters on November 2, 2010 for the statewide election (Sec. 2).
