Vote to pass a bill that requires chain restaurants to display calorie information for all menu items, as well as general nutrition information regarding healthy eating practices.
-Specifies that grocery stores are exempt from this act (Sec. 4). -Requires a chain restaurant to display (on the display tag, menu or menu board) the total amount of calories per serving for each food and beverage item listed for sale (Sec. 7). -Requires a chain restaurant to display caloric information for alcoholic beverages in addition to food products (Sec. 7). -Prevents local districts from adding or changing regulations in conflict with this act (Sec. 7). -Excludes items served at a self-service salad bar or buffet, an item offered for a limited time (less than 90 days), a condiment or other item offered for general use without charge, an item sold within the manufacturer's original package, or a custom order for a food or beverage that does not appear on the menu (Sec. 7). -Takes effect February 1, 2011 (Sec. 8).
