Title: Prohibiting the Use of Cell Phones While Driving
Vote to pass a bill that prohibits text messaging or making a cell phone call without a hands-free device while operating a motor vehicle.
-Prohibits the use of wireless communication devices while driving unless it is a hands-free unit (Article 14). -Provides exceptions for instances involving emergencies (Article 14). -Excludes push to talk and other forms of radio communication (Article 14). -Establishes the penalty for violating this law as a fee not exceeding $25 (Article 14). -Requires that enforcement be predicated on an initial violation of another vehicle violation (Article 14).
