A vote to pass a bill that requires Entergy Nuclear Vermont Yankee to provide additional payments towards a decommissioning fund for Vermont Yankee nuclear plant. Also to establish a legal framework for the decommissioning of nuclear plants and reclamation of lands used.

Highlights:

-Requires Entergy Nuclear Vermont Yankee to make four payments of $114.72 million each towards the decommissioning of Vermont Yankee nuclear plant, in order to reclaim lands on which nuclear energy generation plants are currently located (Sec. 2). -Payments must be made in 2011, 2012, 2018, and 2020 (Sec. 2). -Vermont Yankee and any future nuclear plants must be decommissioned by 10 years after the plant ceases to be used for electricity generation or a date set by the public service board, whichever is earlier (Sec. 2).
