Title: Allocation of School Resources for Homeless Students

Vote to pass a bill that requires schools to provide transportation for homeless students who attend the school, even if the student is residing outside the school corporation boundaries. The bill also calls for the original school corporation and the school corporation where the student is staying to make an agreement on transportation costs. The bill also allows schools to jointly purchase various types of insurance, natural gas, and administrative services with other school districts and to commonly manage or consolidate adjacent school districts. Additionally, the bill allows schools to consolidate purchases with other units of government and requires the State Board of Education to analyze each school corporation’s expenses with respect to amount spent on student academic achievement, instructional support, overhead and operational costs, and non-operational expenditures.
