Title: Local Enforcement of Immigration Laws

Highlights:

-Allows law officials, agencies, or personnel of counties, cities, and towns to check the immigration status of persons for determining eligibility for any federal, state or local benefit, verification of legal domicile, and confirmation of the identity of arrested persons. -Requires that county sheriffs and police departments implement programs to address violations of federal immigration laws by training peace officers, by embedding Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents, or by establishing operational relations with Immigration and Customs Enforcement. -Specifies that funding for training associated with this bill shall be derived from federal sources or shall be covered by the state in the absence of available federal funds.
