Vote to adopt an amendment to HB 2870 increasing scholarship rewards for students who are studying to become math and science teachers.

Highlights:

- Bases eligibility on SAT or ACT scores, high school class rank, cumulative GPA, and other indicators of scholastic ability. - Limits scholarships for the 2008-2009 academic year to $5,000 per semester for those studying to become either a math or science teacher. - Increases the maximum scholarship amount according to the Consumer Price Index (CPI) for each year thereafter to adjust for cost of living increases. - Determines part-time scholarship amounts proportionately by multiplying a student's units as a fraction of full time enrollment by the full scholarship amount.
