Vote to pass a bill that caps medical retirement benefits for current retired state personnel at $155 per month, and rescinds medical retirement benefits for current retirees once they are eligible for Medicare and employees who are hired on or after July 1, 2008.
Highlights:
- Provides medical retirement benefits to active employees who retire after July 1, 2008 if they are drawing benefits that exceed the retiree medical insurance premium in effect on the date of retirement, or have 20,800 hours of credited state service (Sec. 1).
- Allows employees who are hired on or after July 1, 2008 to receive medical retirement benefits if they have at least 20,800 hours of credited state service before June 30, 2008, and accumulate an additional 6,240 hours of credited state service after reemployment, election, or reappointment (Sec. 1).
