Title: Domestic Partnership Rights

Highlights:

-Extends many of the same rights and responsibilities to domestic partners as currently apply to spouses regarding:

    - recognition as immediate family members - the right to refuse to testify against each other in a court of law - community property rights - power of attorney and guardianship - probate and inheritance - state tax law
- Allows the termination of a state registered domestic partnership to be settled out of superior court only if certain conditions are met. Otherwise the dissolution must be settled in court. - Includes domestic partners in current law regarding child support and parenting plans in the event of a partnership dissolution. - Recognizes legal unions between same-sex couples from other states. - Require all registered domestic partners be informed of their new rights and responsibilities.
