Title: Convicted Criminal DNA Database

Highlights:

- Requires DNA samples to be collected from everyone convicted of a felony or other specific crimes including sexual misconduct with a minor, indecent exposure, prostitution, unlawfully harboring a minor, fourth-degree assault, and animal cruelty (sec. 2). - Requires offenders to pay a fee of $100 as part of their sentence. Of this fine, 80 percent is allocated to the state DNA database account and 20 percent is allocated to the agency responsible for collecting the DNA (sec. 3). - Requires that if specific funding for this act is not provided by June 30, 2008, the act is null and void (sec. 5). - Substitute offered by the House Appropriations Committee.
