Highlights:

- Requires hospitals to provide a sexual assault victim with accurate and unbiased information regarding emergency contraception (sec. 1). - Requires hospitals to immediately provide emergency contraceptives to the victim upon request (sec. 1). - Requires hospitals to inform the victim of her option to report the assault to law enforcement and any available options for her to receive an examination in order to obtain evidence (sec. 1). - Allows hospitals to refuse to provide emergency contraceptives to a victim who is pregnant (sec. 1). - Fines violators $2,500 t0 $5,000. Allows hospitals to contest a penalty within 10 days of receiving notice of the fine from the Department of Health and Family Services. Requires the department to hold a hearing within 30 days of an appeal and deliver a decision within 15 days after the hearing (sec. 2).
