Vote to adopt an amendment to HB 1 that applies additional, more stringent environmental restrictions to the SuperFerry.

Highlights:

- Requires SuperFerry apply with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) for an incidental-take permit (Sec. 3.1). - Requires SuperFerry request a NOAA observer on deck when traveling through whale sanctuaries (Sec. 3.1). - Requires SuperFerry travel at speeds of less than 13 knots when in waters shallower than 1200 feet (Sec. 3.1). - Requires SuperFerry provide additional signage notifying passengers of restrictions on transporting invasive species (Sec. 3.1). - Requires SuperFerry wash or vacuum undercarriages of all vehicles to prevent accidental transmission of invasive species (Sec. 3.1). - Gives authority to place additional conditions and protocols on SuperFerry operation to the Public Utilities Commission instead of the Governor (Sec. 3.1).
