Vote to pass a bill that increases parole credit for eligible prisoners.

Highlights:

- Requires that a potential parolee demonstrate “a willingness and ability” to acquire employment or enroll in education or rehabilitation programs, instead of actually acquiring employment or enrolling (Sec. 2). - Grants eligible prisoners a deduction of 20 days from their sentence for each month served with good behavior, increased from 10 days (Sec. 5). - Increases the sentence deductions which are associated with completing one’s education while in prison: a 60 day deduction for earning a general educational development certificate (up from 30 days), a 90 day deduction for earning a high school diploma (up from 60 days), a 120 day deduction for earning an associate degree (up from 90) (Sec. 5). - Prohibits prisoners ever convicted of felony sexual offenses or convicted in the past year of crimes involving the use or threat of force or violence from transfer to minimum security prisons (Sec. 7).
