Highlights:
- Allows the manufacture, sale, and distribution of products containing PBDEs in military and space equipment, Federal Aviation Administration-approved equipment, medical devices, and transportation vehicles and parts manufactured before 2008 [sec.3(2-12)]. - Prohibits the manufacture, sale, and distribution of mattresses containing PBDEs after January 1, 2008 [sec.4(1)]. - Prohibits the manufacture, sale, and distribution of residential upholstered furniture and televisions or computers with an electronic enclosure containing PBDEs after January 1, 2011 [sec.4(2-3)]. - Requires the Department of Health and Fire safety committee to identify that a safer and technically feasible alternative is available before the prohibition takes effect [sec.4(2)]. - Requires that a manufacturer that unknowingly produces, sells, or distributes PBDEs recall the product [sec.11(2)].
