Title: Sexual Health Education
Vote to pass a bill that requires all public schools offering sexual education to use a medically and scientifically accurate curriculum that is age appropriate.
- Mandates that all public schools that offer sex education use a curriculum that includes information about abstinence as well as other methods of preventing pregnancy and disease [sec.2(1)]. - Defines medically and scientifically accurate information as supported by research that complies with scientific methods, published in peer-reviewed journals, and recognized as accurate and objective by professional sexual health organizations and agencies [sec.2(2)]. - Allows parents to excuse children from sexual education curriculum by submitting a written request to the districts school board or school principal [sec.2(6)].
