Title: Extending Limits of U.S. Customs Waters Act
Vote to pass a bill that extends the customs waters territory of the United States.
Extends the customs waters territory of the United States (Sec. 2).
Amends the definition of “customs waters territory” to include (Sec. 2):
The territorial sea of the United States to the limits permitted by international law under Presidential Proclamation 5928, dated December 27, 1988, which extended such limits to 12 nautical miles from the baselines of the United States; and
The contiguous zone of the United States to the limits permitted by international law under Presidential Proclamation 7219, dated September 2, 1999, extended such limits to 24 nautical miles from the baselines of the United States.
Specifies that the provisions of this bill shall take effect immediately upon passage and approval by the President (Sec. 2).
