Title: Amends Drone Use Regulations

Vote to pass a bill that amends drone use regulations in the state of Ohio.

  • Prohibits operating unmanned aerial vehicles (drones) near critical infrastructure or in a manner that disrupts, interrupts, or impairs the operations or activities conducted by law enforcement personnel, fire department personnel, or emergency medical services personnel in the state of Ohio (Sec. 1).

  • Specifies violations as a fourth-degree felony upon first offense and a third-degree felony upon subsequent offense (Sec. 1).

  • Defines “critical infrastructure” as the following, including (Sec. 1):

    • A commercial distribution center;

    • A federal, state, county, or municipal court;

    • A police station, sheriff's office, state highway patrol station, or premises controlled by the Bureau of Criminal Identification and Investigation;

    • A federal, state, county, or municipal jail or prison or any other facility in which persons are incarcerated;

    • A federal or state military installation or facility; or

    • A hospital that receives air ambulance services.

  • Specifies that the provisions of this bill shall become effective immediately upon passage and approval by the governor (Sec. 2).
