Title: Prohibits Any County's Ability to Create Their Own Rules and Regulations to Address Extreme Heat
Vote to pass a bill that prohibits and blocks any county's ability to create its own rules and regulations to address extreme heat in the state of Florida.
Prohibits and blocks any political subdivision's ability to create its own rules and regulations to address heat exposure requirements in the state of Florida (Sec. 1).
Defines “political subdivision” as a county, municipality, department, commission, district, board, or other political body whether corporate or otherwise created under state law (Sec. 1).
Defines “heat exposure requirements” as a standard to control an employee’s exposure to sun or heat, or otherwise address or moderate the effects, including but not limited to (Sec. 1):
Employee monitoring and protection;
Water consumption;
Cooling measures;
Acclimation and recovery periods or practices;
Posting or distributing notices or materials that inform employees how to protect themselves from heat exposure;
Implementation and maintenance of heat exposure programs or training;
Appropriate first-aid measures or emergency responses related to heat exposure.
Protections for employees who report that they have experienced excessive heat exposure; or
Reporting and recordkeeping requirements.
