Vote to pass a bill that prohibits hotels from using single-use plastics in the state of Illinois.

Highlights:

• Prohibits a hotel with 50 rooms or more from providing small, single-use plastic bottles containing personal care products in any space within an accommodation (Sec. 10). 

• Authorizes a hotel to provide personal care products in small single-use plastic bottles to a person at no cost, upon request (Sec. 10). 

• Establishes a written warning for first violations from the State’s Attorney or a municipal attorney (Sec. 10). 

• Specifies that upon second or subsequent violations the hotel may be liable for civil penalties of $500 for each violation (Sec. 10). 

• Authorizes a State Attorney or municipal attorney to bring an action in a circuit court to request a civil penalty (Sec. 10).
