Vote to pass a bill that prohibits lawsuits against pesticide companies if they are following E.P.A. warning guidelines in the state of Iowa.

Highlights:

• Establishes that any pesticide registered with the United States Environmental Protection Agency under the Federal Insecticide Fungicide and Rodenticide Act is sufficient to satisfy the requirement for a warning regarding health or safety (Sec. 1). 

• Requires the label on the pesticide to be consistent with the most recent human health assessment (Sec. 1).  

• Authorizes the use of certain pesticides regulated by the United States Environmental Protection Agency under the federal Insecticide Fungicide and Rodenticide Act (Sec. 1). 

• Specifies that the bill provides defense from civil liability associated with the use of pesticides that are registered with the EPA (Sec. 1). 

• Requires that the pesticide complies with the following requirements (Sec. 1): 

• It is approved by the EPA; 

• It is consistent with the most recent human health assessment performed under the federal Act; and

• It is consistent with the EPA’s carcinogenicity classification for pesticides.
