Title: Requires Privatization of the Dominion Energy Company
Vote to pass a bill that requires privatization of the Dominion Energy Company in the state of South Carolina.
Authorizes Dominion Energy and Santee Cooper to build natural-gas fired power plants (Sec. 1).
Authorizes faster approval of gas pipelines (Sec. 1).
Requires energy commission members to be elected from the state at large (Sec. 1).
Specifies the duties of the energy commission and how they must ensure that South Carolina residents have adequate and economical access to energy (Sec. 1).
Specifies that the public interest includes economic development and job attraction and retention in South Carolina (Sec. 1).
Specifies how many kilowatts need to be produced by an individual in order to be counted as a Customer generator (Sec. 1).
Specifies consumer advocates duties (Sec. 11).
Specifies that the commission shall be responsive to the clean energy needs of customers and the economic development and industry retention implications for South Carolina when reviewing and approving voluntary clean energy programs (Sec. 16).
Requires the commission to approve voluntary renewable energy programs (Sec. 16).
Reduces the amount of public regulators from 7 to 3 (Sec. 22).
