Title: Requires Most Public Schools and College Boards to Video Record Their Meetings

Vote to pass a bill that requires most public schools and college boards to video record their meetings and post on a publicly accessible social media platform or website in the state of Oregon.

Highlights:

  • Establishes the following meetings of the public bodies to abide by this act: 

    • A common or union high school district (Sec. 1):

    • An education service district; 

    • A community college district; or 

    • A public university; 

  • Requires the governing bodies of the aforementioned public bodies to comply with the following (Sec. 1): 

    • Make a video recording all of its meetings; or

    • Within seven days post the video recording of the meeting on the public body’s website, if unable to post video recording the meeting must publish an audio recording; 

 

  • Specifies the following as a “public body meeting” including (Sec. 1): 

    • Any meeting or portion of a meeting that is conducted in executive session; or

    • A school district with a resident average daily membership of less than 50 students.
